Let the Fire Fall: Gifts of Charismatic Prayer

Let the Fire Fall: Gifts of Charismatic Prayer
http://www.catholicherald.com/articles/07ar ticles/charismatic.htm

Concurrent to the rise of secularism and cultural deformation in the 1960s was an outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit within the Catholic Church giving birth to what is known as the Charismatic Renewal. The movement within the Church is often associated with many of the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Spirit such as praying in tongues, prophecy and healing. Although the renewal is characterized with the inclusion of these gifts, it does not necessarily define the movement.

The stirring up of the Holy Spirit, which directly initiated the Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church, occurred on the campus of Duquesne University in 1967. Students and faculty who were on retreat one weekend, simultaneously felt called in the middle of the night to enter the chapel and they began praising and worshiping. The Holy Spirit unleashed His gifts that night in a profound way. The greater awareness of the Holy Spirit and the new movement quickly spread throughout the nation and to different countries around the world.

Due to the fact that those who experience the gifts are not in full control, people must constantly discern the gifts. It must always “flow from God’s love. Love must be the motivating thing,” said Riggins. Another important factor is that it must not ever be contrary to the teachings of the Church. The Holy Spirit will never oppose its Church, nor will the gifts of the Holy Spirit ever divide the Church. “The Holy Spirit is a spirit of unity,” said Riggins. Also included in the discernment process is looking at the fruits, which the gifts bear. Among peace and joy, the movement should bring one to a deeper relationship with Jesus in the Eucharist, a greater devotion to the Blessed Mother and a more profound love for the Church and the Holy Father.

Comment from Understand The Times
For some time, Understand The Times has been attempting to warn Christians about an "ecumenical bridge" that is being established between the Roman Catholic faith and many charismatic evangelical "Protestant" believers. The bridge that is being constructed relates to a common belief in the term "Holy Spirit."

However, as the following article that we are highlighting points out, the Roman Catholic Holy "spirit" represented by a dove, has very different attributes than the Holy Spirit that is mentioned in the Bible. According to the article, the Roman Catholic Holy "spirit" "bring(s) one to a deeper relationship with Jesus in the Eucharist, a greater devotion to the Blessed Mother and a more profound love for the Church and the Holy Father".

The Bible does not support this Roman Catholic perspective of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, according to the Bible, points people to Jesus alone and the finished work of the cross - nothing about "Jesus in the Eucharist", nothing about "a greater devotion to the Blessed Mother", nothing about "a more profound love for the Church" (Roman Catholic Church), and nothing about a "more profound love for the Holy Father".

In the future, as ecumenism and apostasy abounds, unsuspecting Christians who are driven by experience as their measure of faith, will be drawn to the Roman Catholic Eucharistic Jesus by the signs and wonders that will be manifest in appearances of this "Jesus" in the Eucharist. Further, when messages from an apparitional woman claiming to be "Mary" the mother of Jesus (this woman is the Queen of Heaven and clearly not the mother of Jesus) direct the faithful to her son (The Jesus in the Eucharist), those who are convinced that the Roman Catholic Holy spirit is the Holy Spirit of the Bible, will also be persuaded.

We are living in very important days - the Bible calls the Last Days.

Beware of Christian Bookstore Hypocrisy!!!

From the Christian Research Service, Jan. 26, 2007

Now Online at Christian Research Service:

BEWARE OF CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE HYPOCRISY
by Paul Proctor at http://www.newswithviews.com/PaulProctor/proctor110.htm (Paul points out the incredible double-standard that exists between the SBC's Baptist Press and LifeWay's online Christian bookstore).

An Open Rebuttal to Tim Wildmon's Response to His Critics: Is AFA Purposely Promoting Heresy?
by Bud Press at http://www.christianresearchservice.com/TWildmon1.htm (Unfortunately, the revolving door of non-Christian authors and books continue to haunt AFA's bookstore. Thus, AFA's failure to monitor their own bookstores over the years is not due to their lack of knowledge. AFA has been informed over and over and over again, to the point of saturation. Consequently, if a grading system existed for online Christian bookstores, then CRS would grade AFA's Family Resource Center an "F").

AFA Removes "Mysticism" Category But Keeps Authors
by Lighthouse Trails at http://www.fromthelighthouse.com/blog/index.php?p=471&more=1&c=1 ("Yes, the "Mysticism" category is gone from the AFA website, but the contents of that category are not. It's kind of like a child who hides his peas under the edge of his plate, thinking he has them safely out of view").

Gay-Friendly Authors Populate SBC's LifeWay Site

What in the world is happening to the Christian Bookstore Industry? I have spent a number of hours researching this subject and it is incredible how quickly things have gone from bad to worse.

Here are some resources on the subject.

Gay-Friendly Authors Populate SBC's LifeWay Site
Bob Allen

In 2005 the Southern Baptist Convention passed a resolution urging churches to be on guard against homosexual influences in public schools. But a conservative Web site says the nation's largest Protestant body might first want to get its own house in order by checking out shelves of the SBC's publisher, LifeWay Christian Resources.

Baptist Press last week bemoaned that Wal-Mart is "still dabbling" in support of "the homosexual agenda," despite warnings of a boycott by religious conservatives. A writer challenged readers to type the word "gay" into the search engine for Wal-Mart's online bookstore, reporting that more than 1,000 titles turn up.

On Friday Paul Proctor at NewsWithViews.com followed two earlier columns warning about Christian book sites that promote authors who are "heretics and false teachers" with a similar challenge.

"[I]f you go to the ChristianResearchService.com website, click on the Master List, scroll down to the section subtitled, 'Homosexual/Lesbian/ Transgendered/Pro-gay,' and enter each of the names listed there into the Southern Baptist Convention's LifeWaystores.com search engine, (select keyword: 'author')," Proctor said, "you will find numerous examples of the double-standard that continues unabated in the online Christian bookstore industry."

EthicsDaily.com did just that, counting 13 of 32 authors on the Christian Research Service list in LifeWay's product database.

Accept Homosexuality—or Else!

The following article is from Steve W. Cornell at the Millersville Bible Church

-SRN
Brace yourself for what is coming. You will have no choice. Accept homosexuality or face the courts. Homosexual activists want to normalize their lifestyle in society. They want to force their lifestyle on you. They want your children to see the “gay way” as a choice equal with heterosexual relationships. They want school curriculum to teach this to your children. Don't be fooled. They don’t want tolerance. They want full endorsement—or else!

If you do not fully endorse gay marriage and homosexual behavior, at the very least, you will be told to keep your opinion to yourself. If you actively resist the agenda you will be labeled a homophobic, small-minded, discriminatory hate-monger.

Lighthouse Trails Newsletter Reminder

Dear readers,

If you are new to this Blog we want to make sure you are aware of what is going on in the Church today. It seems that many, many church leaders, pastors, youth workers, publishing houses, etc., think that Contemplative Spirituality is Biblical. It is NOT! It has its roots in mysticism and one can find connections to it in Eastern religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism amongst other things.

We recommend that you do some research. Why not visit the Lighthouse Trails Research Project website and find out more so you are not deceived. Web: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com

Take a closer look at what Contemplative Spirituality really is and beware that you do not get blindsided by this great deception in the church today. You can also sign up for their Newsletter. We have posted the links to the latest issue here so that you can check out the newsletter and sign up. Special Thanks to Lighthouse Trails for their valuable research. The things they have found are the same things we are finding in our research.

It is staggering to behold that Christian leaders today are leading people into the fringes of what occultists, yogi's, and Hindu and Buddhist monks partake in. Contemplative prayer, meditation, chanting mantra's, visualising Jesus, 'the silence', 'centering down', etc. Don't be deceived folks, Contemplative Spirituality is not of the God of the Bible! Period!

"Contemplative Spirituality: A belief system that uses ancient mystical practices to induce altered states of consciousness (the silence) and is rooted in mysticism and the occult but often wrapped in Christian terminology. The premise of contemplative spirituality is pantheistic (God is all) and panentheistic (God is in all)." [ http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/ ]

NEW BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT - The Other Side of the River

NEW BOOK !
(Courtesy of Lighthouse TrailsPublishing)

The Other Side of the River - Ready for Ordering - Street Date: March 21, 2007

A compelling and deeply personal account of a young man's spiritual plunge into a movement called "the River," which claims to be spreading the kingdom of God through signs and wonders. Sometimes referred to as the River revival, the Third Wave or the Latter Rain, this movement is marked by bizarre manifestations, false prophecies and esoteric revelations. Warnings of divine retribution keep many adherents in bondage, afraid to speak out or even question those things they are taught and are witness to.

For Kevin Reeves, the determination to rescue his family came to the forefront. Even if the cost was high and even if he had to stand alone, his journey back into the freedom and simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be worth the price.

Topics this book addresses:
Word Faith movement
Holy Laughter"
Slain" in the Spirit practice
Emphasis on humanity of Jesus over His Deity
Gifts & Calling for the unbeliever?
Experience versus Scripture
Repetitive chanting & singing
Paradigm shift
Questionable worship practices

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - More Witchcraft for Children

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - More Witchcraft for Children

From HPNA - "JK Rowling announced today on her web site that book 7 will be released this summer on Saturday, July 21!"

Reminder of the Biblical Prohibitions Against Occultism/Witchcraft/etc.

All forms of occultism can be classified as "trafficking with demons".
The Bible however has over 150 references in condemnation of the occult and its many practices. God has warned of its dangers and God says that those who practice such things are worthy of death. Yes, people can repent and come to Christ for salvation and eternal life but they must renounce all forms of occultism, they must surrender to Christ ,and they must be born-again.

For those who do not repent of occultism, Witchcraft/Wicca, Satan worship, New Age practices such as channeling, occult meditation, vusialization, etc., - eternal fire awaits them. Those who traffick with demons, if they do not come to
Christ, will have the same fate as Lucifer/Satan.

Jesus Christ was not a liar when He said that Satan is the Father of lies.

John 8:42-45
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

Witchcraft and every other form of occultism comes from the Father of lies. Many ignorantly read Harry Potter as if it is some nice chilodren's fantasy book, but the Witchcraft of Harry Potter is just as evil and just as deadly as the witchcraft that many practice here in the darkness of Edinburgh, Scotland - Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling's hometown.

Don't be deceived, occultism is deadly!!!
