Beware of Christian Bookstore Hypocrisy!!!

From the Christian Research Service, Jan. 26, 2007

Now Online at Christian Research Service:

BEWARE OF CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE HYPOCRISY
by Paul Proctor at http://www.newswithviews.com/PaulProctor/proctor110.htm (Paul points out the incredible double-standard that exists between the SBC's Baptist Press and LifeWay's online Christian bookstore).

An Open Rebuttal to Tim Wildmon's Response to His Critics: Is AFA Purposely Promoting Heresy?
by Bud Press at http://www.christianresearchservice.com/TWildmon1.htm (Unfortunately, the revolving door of non-Christian authors and books continue to haunt AFA's bookstore. Thus, AFA's failure to monitor their own bookstores over the years is not due to their lack of knowledge. AFA has been informed over and over and over again, to the point of saturation. Consequently, if a grading system existed for online Christian bookstores, then CRS would grade AFA's Family Resource Center an "F").

AFA Removes "Mysticism" Category But Keeps Authors
by Lighthouse Trails at http://www.fromthelighthouse.com/blog/index.php?p=471&more=1&c=1 ("Yes, the "Mysticism" category is gone from the AFA website, but the contents of that category are not. It's kind of like a child who hides his peas under the edge of his plate, thinking he has them safely out of view").

Gay-Friendly Authors Populate SBC's LifeWay Site

What in the world is happening to the Christian Bookstore Industry? I have spent a number of hours researching this subject and it is incredible how quickly things have gone from bad to worse.

Here are some resources on the subject.

Gay-Friendly Authors Populate SBC's LifeWay Site
Bob Allen
01-29-07

In 2005 the Southern Baptist Convention passed a resolution urging churches to be on guard against homosexual influences in public schools. But a conservative Web site says the nation's largest Protestant body might first want to get its own house in order by checking out shelves of the SBC's publisher, LifeWay Christian Resources.

Baptist Press last week bemoaned that Wal-Mart is "still dabbling" in support of "the homosexual agenda," despite warnings of a boycott by religious conservatives. A writer challenged readers to type the word "gay" into the search engine for Wal-Mart's online bookstore, reporting that more than 1,000 titles turn up.

On Friday Paul Proctor at NewsWithViews.com followed two earlier columns warning about Christian book sites that promote authors who are "heretics and false teachers" with a similar challenge.

"[I]f you go to the ChristianResearchService.com website, click on the Master List, scroll down to the section subtitled, 'Homosexual/Lesbian/ Transgendered/Pro-gay,' and enter each of the names listed there into the Southern Baptist Convention's LifeWaystores.com search engine, (select keyword: 'author')," Proctor said, "you will find numerous examples of the double-standard that continues unabated in the online Christian bookstore industry."

EthicsDaily.com did just that, counting 13 of 32 authors on the Christian Research Service list in LifeWay's product database.

Greetings once again!

Amidst working through more emails, we have received some very encouraging letters and also some very sad ones too. Periodically people will share their own stories about how their churches are embracing contemplative spirituallity, New Age mystical techniques, yoga, etc.

People also share about how their church leadership frowns upon them as they ask why the church is not teaching the Bible, but instead Rick Warren's book.

We have recently posted more articles regarding these dangers of these things at our SRN Blog and our Contemplative Emerging Church deception Blog.

These two articles below help to shed a bit of light on what Bible believers are up against nowadays!

pseudodidaskaloi' - The Cut & Paste Hermeneutics Of Rick Warren

BIBLE BUTCHERY - How To Make God’s Word Say Whatever You Like And Ignore What God Said It Actually Says - The Cut & Paste Hermeneutics Of Rick Warren and The Gnostic Interpretation Of The Parables By Brian Maclaren & Peter Tsukahirawww.moriel.org/articles/discernment/church_issues/pseudodidaskaloi.htmemerging church

How to Know When the Emerging Church Shows Signs of Emerging in Your Church
http://www.understandthetimes.org/commentary/c54.shtml

I have also received correspondence from Christian who have gotten into alternative therapies, new age healing, and Kundalini [yoga] arousal, contemplative meditation, etc. Although these people are Christians, their lives have been dramatically affected by occult influences. This ought not to be.

Sadly, many leaders in churches nowadays are "doing church" by integrating Gnostic mysticism and ancient rituals into church services. These include but are not limited to utilizing mantras, praying with crystals, centering prayer, visiaulizing Jesus [which one?], incense, candles, venerating images and icons, walking labyrinths, etc.

A simple reading of Jeremaih chapter 7 and 8 reveals what our Holy God thinks about mixing pagan religious practices with the worship of the One true God - Jehovah - Jesus Christ!

Beware friends, New Age Gnosticicm and Ancient Mysticism re-labeled for Christians is not of the God of Holy Scripture! We understand that post-modern leaders want to reach out to poeple, but this is Christian chicanery - artful subterfuge, Trojan Horsism, masquerading as "true worship".

SPECIAL REPORT: Non-Christian Authors, Books Continue to Haunt the Christian Bookstore Industry

Dear All,
At the link below is a very important report. Bud Press has done an excellent job in researching what is going on with the Christian Book industry. People are compromising the truth in order to make a few bucks, or, a few million bucks.

This report confirms again and again what we have also seen , at the Parable Christian Book store in San Luis Obispo, California, at the Wesley Owen Christian Bookstore in Edinburgh, at the Christian Booksellers Convention in Atlanta, etc - NO DISCERNMENT AND NO CONCERN FOR TRUTH !
Even at the Wesley Owen Bookstore in Edinburgh, when the manager was lovingly confronted regarding the blatant, anti-Christian heresies of Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland, the manager told me to my face that she would allow the store to sell heresy...because it is popular and people will buy it what is popular. What kind of "Christian bookstore manager" is this?

Just because a clown wears a smile does not mean the face behind the mask is a happy one. So too, just because a Christian bookstore is called "Christian" does not mean that what you buy will by any means be "Christian". In fact, it may even be downright satanic.

Watch out and use discernment or you might be led astray from Christ by what your local compromising Christian Bookstore has sold you.

SPECIAL REPORT: Non-Christian Authors, Books Continue to Haunt the Christian Bookstore Industry

"The time has come when the entire Christian bookstore industry must take a serious look at who and what they are advertising and promoting, then do something about it--not six months from now or next year--but immediately."

Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin (James 4:17).
